NEW ALUMNI DONORS who haven't given since June 2023 can MULTIPLY their impact and unlock an additional $1,000 per donor, up to $100,000.



What is the 1869 Challenge?

The annual 1869 Challenge is our chance to support Trinity and the best and brightest students on campus. Over 1,869 minutes, Trinity alumni, families, faculty, staff, students, and friends have a chance to support any area of the University they choose. 


Your gifts toward scholarships and financial aid help bring students to campus. Your support for student programs, academic departments, athletics, and necessities helps to keep them going strong! As One Trinity, we support the resources that enable excellence and access on and off-campus.  


And those aren’t the only stakes for this Challenge! From student organizations and Greek Council to athletics to academics and scholarships, there are challenges to keep you motivated throughout the entire event.


The 1869 Challenge starts Wednesday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. CDT and ends at 8:09 p.m. CDT on Thursday, September 28, which is exactly 1,869 minutes, all for Trinity.


For 1,869 minutes, we come together as One Trinity to provide vital resources that make the Trinity experience exceptional.

If 50 donors support the Student Technology Fund, Board of Trustee Ruth Agather will give $5,000 to Trinity University. The Student Technology Fund provides eligible students with technology needs: laptop, headphones, and WIFI hotspot, for example, which are critical for current college students to be successful in their day-to-day studies.

Raymond Judd Student Emergency Fund
If $10,000 is raised for the Raymond Judd Student Emergency Fund, $10,000 will be unlocked for Trinity University students. The Raymond Judd Student Emergency Fund, named in honor of Chaplain Emeritus Rev. Raymond Judd ’56, helps students who are challenged to afford and access necessary resources for remote learning, housing, transportation, and basic needs or those who face other difficulties. 100% of these funds are available to support our students through graduation or during the next step in their journey. Funding decisions are reviewed on a case-by-case basis by Chapel, Student Life, and Counseling Services staff.

Engineering has used gifts to help students pay for the cost of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, carry out senior design projects that have been otherwise impossible due to financial constraints, and provide our Makerspace with a state-of-the-art 3D printer.

Trinity University Women's Club Scholarship Fund
The Trinity University Women's Club (TUWC) exists to render service to Trinity University, to maintain a scholarship fund for worthy Trinity students, and to provide an opportunity for forming friendships. Once 25 donors give to the TU Women's Club Scholarship, an additional $5,000 will be given to the fund. If 50 unique donors give to the TUWC Scholarship, Lynne Perry '81 will donate an additional $1,000 to the fund.

Parent Challenge
Which Parent Class has the most #TigerPride? This challenge pits classes 2024, 2025, 2026, and 2027 against each other to see who has the most donors during the 1869 Challenge. The winning parent class will be announced on the TU Parents Facebook page and the Parent Portal, plus it will be highlighted during Fall Family Weekend.

Greek Council 10k Challenge for the Dues Waiver Program
Greek Unity has never looked better. 10 women from Greek Life have come together in support of Greek Council's Dues Waiver program. They know that our Greek community is stronger when students can join Greek Life regardless of their financial means. This talented group will give $10,000 when Greek Council receives it's 40 donor. Skyline Scholars (Formerly Summer Bridge Program)
If 50 donors support the Skyline Scholars, Board of Trustee Ruth Agather will give $5,000 to Trinity University students. Since 2010, Trinity’s Skyline Scholars Program has given first-generation and underrepresented students a chance to come to campus early and transition to college life. These students begin their First Year Experience class and receive free housing, books, and meals during the program. They’re also introduced to the writing and time-management skills that are so critical to academic success.

Necessity Fund
If 50 donors support the Necessity Fund, Board of Trustee Ruth Agather will give $5,000 to Trinity University. Trinity established the Necessity Fund in 2018 to provide first-year students with toiletries, linens, and essential items for day-to-day dorm living. Eligible students can opt-in; the items will be waiting for them when they arrive at their residence hall on move-in day.

Academic Departmental Challenge
Our faculty are the heart of the Trinity experience. To encourage alumni to give to academic departments, President Vanessa Beasley is pledging a $5,000 challenge. The department that secures the most donors will also receive $2,500, the second will receive $1,500, and the third most donors will receive $1,000 with the funds deposited into their department account.
